Who we serve
Built around four kinds of owners
Each has its own Washington tax traps. We focus on those instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
Contractors & trades
Retail sales tax on custom work, reseller permits for subs, L&I hours, 1099s and job costing that shows which jobs actually made money.
For contractorsReal estate investors
Cost segregation, entity structure, flips vs. holds, and books that make every property's numbers clear.
For investorsTrucking & hauling
IFTA quarterlies, heavy-vehicle use tax, Washington public utility tax, per diem and equipment depreciation.
For carriersNew businesses
A fixed-fee setup so year one starts clean: registrations, excise filing, books, payroll and the S-election question.
For new ownersOne relationship
Your books, your taxes and the deal side, in one place
Most owners juggle a bookkeeper, a seasonal preparer and nobody to call when a big decision comes up. When the same person keeps your books and prepares your return, the planning happens during the year, when it can still change the outcome.
- Monthly books that close on timeReconciled accounts and job or property-level reporting you can act on.
- Washington compliance handledExcise returns, reseller permits, L&I reports and payroll filings, on the calendar.
- Returns prepared from clean numbersBusiness and personal returns built on books we already know.
- Planning before year-endEntity choice, S-election, equipment timing and estimated taxes, decided before December 31.
- An owner's view of real estateWe invest in real estate ourselves, so rentals, flips and financing get practical advice.

Questions
What owners ask first
Are you a CPA firm?
No. Aurea is a tax and bookkeeping practice led by Anthony Renteria, a Big Four-trained tax advisor who is completing the CPA exam. We prepare returns, keep books, handle Washington excise and payroll compliance, and do tax planning. We do not perform audits, reviews or compilations, and we will refer you if you need one.
How much does it cost?
Every engagement is quoted as a fixed fee after a 30-minute fit call, based on transaction volume, number of entities, payroll and how current your books are. You see the full fee before any work starts.
My books are behind. Can you still help?
Yes. Catch-up and cleanup work is common. We quote the cleanup separately, bring the books current, and then move you to a monthly package.
Do we have to meet in person?
No. Most work runs through the secure client portal, email and video calls. In-person meetings are available around Toppenish, Yakima and the Lower Valley.
Who is not a good fit?
Large companies that need audited financial statements, and anyone looking for the cheapest possible return once a year. We work best with owners who want their books and taxes handled year-round.
What do I need for the fit call?
Nothing formal. It helps to know your entity type, roughly how many transactions you have each month, whether you run payroll, and your last filed return.
From the founder
“I started Aurea because owners here deserve the same quality of tax work I did at a Big Four firm, from someone who picks up the phone in October, not just in April.”
